This mailing list exists in order to make it easier to communicate with those interested in OCMIP (The Ocean Carbon-Cycle Model Intercomparison Project) of IGBP/GAIM.

This introductory message is sent to every new subscriber of "ocmip-all"

This mailing list, ocmip-all, is private. Only subscribed members are allowed to send messages or retrieve them the list archives. Also, this list is unmoderated, meaning messages do NOT pass through a moderator before being sent to all subscribers.

1. To Send Messages

If you want to send a message to the other subscribers of the list, simply send e-mail to

ocmip-all@lsce.saclay.cea.fr

IMPORTANT: To reply to mail sent to you through this list, pay attention to the list of recipients. For example in standard Unix mail, a small 'r' means that you will reply to the message sender, whereas a big 'R' means you will reply to all recipients as well.

2. To Un-Subscribe

If you want to quit ('un-subscribe' from) this mailing list, send mail to

listserv@lsce.saclay.cea.fr

with the following message

signoff ocmip-all

IMPORTANT: You must send the 'signoff' mail from the e-mail address registered as a subscribed member of this mailing list (i.e., the same e-mail address where 'ocmip-all' list messages are sent).

3. To Subscribe

If you want to add a new subscriber to the list, or to join another list, send a request by mail to the lists administrator

orr@cea.fr

Please don't forget to include your full name, address, phone and fax numbers (and other relevant information) as well as the list name!

4. Help on Commands

If you want to know what commands are understood by the listserv program (e.g., how to access the 'ocmip-all' list archives), read the next section or send a mail to

listserv@lsce.saclay.cea.fr

including the following message

help

Commands must be sent to in a message without subject. Multiple commands per message are allowed.

5. Available commands

HELp Sends the help file
LISt Gives the names of the mailing lists managed at the site
REView list_name Gives the names of subscribers to list_name
INDex list_name Index of files available for list_name (lists are archived monthly)
GET list_name file Get a file from the archive of list_name
SIGnoff list_name End of subscription (leave list_name)

6. Examples

If you want to get the list of the files archived for ocmip-all, send a mail without subject to

listserv@lsce.saclay.cea.fr

with the following line

IND ocmip-all

Once your request is processed by the listserv program, you will receive e-mail telling you what files are available. You can then get a file using

GET ocmip-all log9602 Get the messages sent to ocmip-all in February 96

Requests are automatically treated by software. If you don't receive a response relatively soon thereafter, that probably means that the listserver is down. Never fear, however, for your mail should be processed as soon as the "listserv" program is restarted.

7. Problems?

If you have troubles with the mailing list, feel free to report them to

orr@cea.fr
